Great Northern Yarns was founded with the goal of creating the world's finest luxury yarns and selling directly to the knitter on our website at wholesale prices. We created and are the sole global distributor of our exclusive 70% mink 30% cashmere yarn. We sell an exceptionally fine 100% premium cashmere yarn in lace and DK weights (so soft!). We recently added 100% Yak yarn in a versatile DK weight. By distributing directly to knitters ourselves we are able to keep prices extremely low. It is important to understand no animals are harmed making the mink cashmere yarn. Healthy, stress-free minks sheared once a year produce the richest, most lustrous fibers. We are delighted to bring these wonderful yarns to you at real wholesale prices.
The mink cashmere yarn has many unique properties. Knitting stimulates a blossoming of the mink fibers creating a lovely halo effect. Our cashmere is incredibly soft and light, carefully spun from the finest cashmere fibers sourced from our partner farm in the western part of Inner Mongolia.
All of our colored yarns are top dyed. A more expensive but superior method for dying yarn. The fibers are dyed before carding and spinning. Top dyed yarns are softer with richer, more consistent color saturation. There is no color variation from dye lot to dye lot. A hang tag care instructions is attached to your yarn.
Accurately displaying yarn colors on a website can be difficult. I found the close-up method to be the best. Depending upon the calibration of your monitor the yarn colors can appear a slight shade off from reality. you can order a color card at our flat shipping rate of $4.80 or have one included at no charge along with your order
