Great Northern Yarns is committed to developing innovative animal friendly all-natural luxury yarns. We developed our exclusive 70% mink/30% cashmere yarn in August 2008. No animals are harmed in the production of any of our yarns. Healthy stress-free minks sheared once a year yield the most lustrous fibers. We sell directly to knitters at wholesale prices here on our website. All our yarns are top-dyed utilizing eco-friendly dye techniques. The fibers are dyed before carding and spinning, yielding richer colors with superior color saturation and no variation between dye lots.
Our partner mill is small and capacity is limited, but the quality is outstanding! The twist is just right and very consistent throughout; the colors are deep and rich. We are working to increase our spinning capacity but that will never happen at the expense of quality, ever! To keep more yarn in stock right here on our website we decided to focus 100% of our energies on our retail business selling directly to knitters. This website is now your only source for our yarns.
